i will survive!

Happy Wednesday, everyone! I have a card to share with you today that I made for the I Will Survive Challenge (HYCCT1118) hosted by Holly over at Splitcoaststampers.  For the challenge, you are encouraged to use any shade of purple on your card/project.

"As we support our sisters/mothers/daughters who are battling breast cancer, I think it's important to recognize those that have attained the status of SURVIVOR. While pink will always represent breast cancer support, the coveted purple is for our survivors. Thanks to them, the path of healing is paved with strength and courage." -- Holly

To create this card, re-size and print out digi flower onto white cardstock (LOVE this digi flower).  First apply Worn Lipstick distress ink with a sponge, gradually using lighter pressure as you reach the center of the flower.  Then do the same with Dusty Concord over the pink, thus creating a warmer shade of purple.  Lightly mist with a DIY pearl mist (Perfect Pearl + water mix).  Cut out and apply Dusty Concord on the white cut edges.  Then curl the tips of each petal with a paintbrush handle.  Repeat previous steps, but with Forest Moss distress ink, to create green leaves.  Cut out three petals and set aside.  Next, create a 7/8" strip on the bottom part of the card front by masking with Scotch-Blue Painter's Tape.  (To make sure it's aligned straight, first use a ruler and lightly trace lines where you want the reverse-masked strip to be. Then apply the tape along the lines.)  Stamp background stamp in Wild Honey. Carefully remove tape, and erase pencil marks once ink is dry.  Wrap twine, and affix green leaves, flower, and pearl.  Then stamp sentiment, and round upper-right corner with a corner rounder punch.
